Laging inaasahan ang mga presyo na bumuo at sumunod sa mga kalakaran, kahit na pasumala. Mas malamang na ipagpapatuloy ng isang presyo ang isang nakaraang kalakaran kaysa gumalaw nang basta-basta.
Ang mga technical analyst ay bumabase sa obserbasyon na ang kasaysayan ay gumagalaw sa mga siklo at kaya’t nauulit.
